Glanenig Care Home has been proudly providing care at the heart of the Talgarth community for over 30 years. Since taking over ownership in May 2024, we have placed our residents at the heart of everything we do, focussing on the needs of the individual.
Feedback is a gift, so our plans will always be shaped by residents, family and staff surveys to understand what people loved about Glanenig. Along with residents’ committees and staff forums, these ways of working help us refine what we do, so it is just right for the needs of our residents.
We’ve made immediate changes to the environment in Glanenig Care Home. We are really proud to have created new communal areas where every resident sits in rooms with natural light. By converting our office (which has a lovely bay window overlooking the river Enig) into a lounge, we have been able to create three new areas; the new lounge, a the new dining area and “Taffy’s Tropical Bar” where residents can meet in private with visitors, or have a bit of a ‘social’ in the evening.
Technology
The whole building has been re-wired to provide super-fast broadband, and many of our residents really enjoy the benefits of connectivity. The team love to help residents spend time catching up with friends and family who can’t visit in person.
A new nurse-call system is now in place throughout the home, with an easy to use push button system, residents can let the team know they would like a helping hand or, if necessary raise the alarm when more urgent assistance is required.
And for the ultimate peace of mind, residents are now protected by a state of the art AJAX fire protection system. Simple to use, this military grade equipment is designed to the highest F1 standards and is fully integrated with the local fire service.
Nourishment
Food has always been good at Glanenig, being prepared using local ingredients, by our dedicated in-house team of cooks. Done well, food is a real pleasure for our residents, who have a choice from a delicious weekly menu, designed with nutritional needs in mind.
We currently have a 5* hygiene rating, and our next area of major investment will be in the kitchen. We are working with the experts at Quincely to design and develop best-in-class standards.
